Job Summary:
The After-School Enrichment Lead Tutor is responsible for supporting the Site Manager with overseeing forty-five high school students at individual schools in the after-school hours. This position requires individuals interested in impacting the lives of students through academic, enrichment, and social and emotional support activities. In addition, this position will be responsible for planning and leading enrichment activities both on and off-site and safely transporting students to and from REC programming and field trips. Physical demands associated with tutoring and enrichment activities may include: sitting, standing, walking, alternative sitting or standing at will, lifting or carrying up to 25lbs, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and or climbing.
Responsibilities:
Enrichment Planning Responsibilities ( 4-7 hrs/week )
● Attend enrichment meetings led by HS Program Activities Coordinator to go over the upcoming
enrichment activities
● Picks up enrichment materials from the High School enrichment shelf
● Collaborate with Site Managers and HS Program Activities Coordinator to plan field trips
● Train & help facilitate enrichment lessons with tutors during the site meeting
● Other duties as assigned
Programming Responsibilities ( 11 hrs/ week)
● Lead enrichment activities at programming
● Sets up, facilitates and cleans up pre-planned enrichment activities
● Facilitate & lead field trips
● Assist students during program time with homework and structured academic support
● Assist with selection and preparation of academic support materials for students
● Engage with students to mentor and develop a positive relationship
● Arrange materials in rooms to meet the needs of the students, staff, and volunteers
● Assist with set up of programming space prior to programming and cleaning up programming space
at the end of each programming day following the vendor usage guidelines required by D51
● Be an active participate in the Positive Behavior Support (PBS) policy
● Serve as a positive role model to students
● Attend REC program site weekly staff meetings
● Complete training hours provided by REC
● Other duties as assigned
Bus Driver Responsibilities (Training Provided)
● Safely operate a school bus to transport students to and from REC programming locations
● Maintain a timely schedule for pick-up and drop-off, following designated routes
● Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and report any issues promptly
● Monitor student behavior on the bus to ensure a safe and respectful environment
● Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational policies
● Maintain a clean motor vehicle record
● Communicate effectively with REC staff, program supervisors, and parents/guardians as needed
● Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus when necessary
● Keep the bus clean and organized to maintain a welcoming and safe environment
● Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies or unexpected situations
● Complete and submit required logs, reports, or incident documentation accurately and on time
Calificaciones
Qualifications:
● Must be 21 years or older (driving requirement)
● Ability to safety operate a small bus (no CDL required)
● Strong academic knowledge base
● Leadership skills a must
● Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Effective oral and written communication skills
● Strong ability to multitask
● Prefer an individual who has experience working with assisting youth overcome barriers
● True desire to impact the lives of children in our community
● Bilingual skills beneficial, but not mandatory
● Capable of being flexible when needed
Detalles de la posición
Limited Part-time position during the school year (10-16 hours per week). Follows the school year
(two, 14-week semesters) and an optional two-four week summer program
● $16.50-$18.50/hr. (based on experience)
● $18.50-$20.50/hr (Senior Level Tutor)
● +$0.25-$0.50/hr driving differential
Benefits: As a standalone job, only :
● Accrued HFWA Sick Leave (1hr Sick Leave/30 worked, maximum 48 hrs per year.)
